Council for Allied Health Professions Research

The Council for Allied Health Professions Research (CAHPR) develops research, strengthens evidence of value and impact, and enhances patient care.

CAHPR has 23 regional hubs that provide local support to increase research capacity and capability. CAHPR has also created a popular series of top tips on research topics. What can CAHPR –The Council for Allied Health Professions Research do for BAMT members?

BAMT is a member of CAHPR and this means you can join your local hub and attend events free, gaining further training and knowledge of research across all the Allied Health Professions. I am the BAMT officer on the strategy group for CAHPR and Dr Catherine Carr is my alternate. The strategy committee includes representatives from all Allied Health Professions and includes manager representatives also. Stephen Sandford is a member of the CAHPR strategy committee also, in his AHP manager and lead Trust role. The council's mission is to develop AHP research, strengthen evidence of the professions’ value and impact for enhancing service user and community care, and enable the professions to speak with one voice on research issues, thereby raising their profile and increasing their influence. We meet regularly with key people from HEE England, NICE, NIHR and last year we held a conference where arts therapies research was presented alongside research from other AHPs.

With excellent opportunities for learning, sharing, networking, collaborations and access to advice and support, CAHPR strengthens the professions’ research activities and outputs facilitating the translation of research findings into practice and education.
