Musical Care as a Balm for Grief - by We Are Monster

29 March 2025

We Are Monster present their first in a series of events for Music Therapists of colour. Funded by the Musical Care Network International, this event focuses on Black Women’s Grief and health inequalities through the COVID pandemic and beyond. A screening of a specially commissioned film highlighting stories of loss and grief will be the focus of the morning, with an opportunity to play music as a way to process some of the emotional content. Led by 3 experienced Music Therapists and social justice activists, the event will address issues wider than just female grief, but how systemic oppression and colonisation continue to play an active role in our everyday lives.

Whilst the morning event will include a wider audience of other therapists and healers, the afternoon will be specifically for music therapists where we will be able to share and explore issues that need attention as a group to grow our community.

The event is FREE and lunch is provided.

I encourage all music therapists of colour to get in touch to ask questions, book on the above link or simply engage in the conversation at holler@wamonster.org.

Thank you,
