BAMT Music Therapy and Psychoanalysis Network Meeting - all welcome

02 April 2022

We are delighted to announce this new BAMT member network. We hope that it will be of interest to therapists and trainees from all training backgrounds and all areas of work, whether practicing with children and young people or adults. Our plan for the first meeting is to find out what you would most value and find useful to explore in future meetings. After we’ve presented some thoughts of our own, the remainder of the morning will consist of small and large group discussion. Whatever your level of experience and training background, we look forward to welcoming you!
Please book here.

In the meantime, here are the vision and aims of the network:

Vision

To foster the integration of psychoanalytic perspectives in contemporary music therapy, involving presentation, practical exploration, discussion and debate

Aims

  • To provide a networking opportunity for music therapists interested in psychoanalytic perspectives
  • To provide opportunities for clinical/theoretical presentation, discussion, and practical exploration
  • To keep members up to date with current developments in psychoanalytically-informed thinking and practice, and of its integration with infancy research, attachment theory, brain science, musical and other perspectives, aware of equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • To explore how music therapy and psychoanalysis can mutually inform each other
