BAMT are currently seeking a new Chair of Trustees. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified, experienced and HCPC-registered music therapist to provide leadership for the Charity, the Board and the wider music therapy community in the UK.

The Chair will hold the Board of Trustees to account for the Charity’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to Trustees and the Core Team (including a CEO, soon to be recruited) to ensure all members fulfill their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of BAMT. The Chair will ensure the Board functions as a unit and work closely with the Core Team to achieve agreed objectives.

They will also be an ambassador for music therapy in higher education and government and a leader and role model for employees, trustees, members with portfolios and volunteers as well as the broader membership.

Recruitment Process

Please note that only music therapists registered with HCPC are eligible to put themselves forward for consideration.

Please download the Job Description for the Chair of Trustees from the right hand of this page. There are 3 main stages to the recruitment of Chair, which are as follows:

Stage 1: Interested applicants must send a CV and covering letter outlining their interest in the role and providing evidence with reference to the Job Description. These must be sent electronically to under the subject title ‘Application for role of Chair’. The deadline for submitting CVs is Friday 16 Aug 2019.

Stage 2: Successful applicants will be contacted around the end of August/beginning of September 2019. These applicants will be asked to submit a 2-minute video presentation about themselves and why they consider they are best suited to the role. The closing date for the video submission is Friday 13th September 2019.

Stage 3: The new Chair will be elected by BAMT members at the AGM, which will take place on Saturday 12th October 2019.
