The future of funding in the NHS: priority areas, productivity and integration

This seminar will be a timely opportunity to discuss the future of funding in the NHS, looking at priority areas, productivity and integration. It will bring together policymakers and key stakeholders in the health, social care and public health sectors.

As the agenda includes discussion relevant to AHPs, including supporting workforce development - I thought it might be of interest.

Delegates will assess the impact of the 5-year funding increase for the NHS recently announced by the Prime Minister and the wider 10-year plan being developed for the NHS which will be geared towards mental health, cancer, cardiovascular disease, children’s services and reducing health inequalities.

Discussion is also expected on the technology funding boost of more than £400 million recently announced by the new Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, as well as the additional £215 million research funding package.

Further sessions will consider how the new funding will affect the health and social care sectors more immediately - examining priorities for resource allocation, utilisation and efficiency as well as possible challenges, and further issues for the future of funding in the NHS.
