Introduction to Music Therapy

This afternoon workshop will provide an introduction to music therapy. It will be useful for anyone wishing to find out more about music therapy, including but not limited to those who may wish to consider postgraduate training as a Music Therapist. It is open to both music students and also any interested students of other faculties such as medicine, psychology or education.

It will explore the work of Music Therapists in different settings and the theoretical context for the work. There will be presentations of casework and clinical extracts. There will be opportunities for practical music based activities (though no musical skill or experience is necessary).

There will be group discussions and practical sessions so come along ready to get involved! You are welcome to bring your own instrument if you wish. 

A certificate of attendance from the BAMT will be available at the end of the workshop, and attendees will qualify for a discounted rate for the April 2020 music therapy conference.
