Hong Kong Music Therapy Conference

About the Conference:
It is the first professional Music Therapy Conference in Hong Kong. We have a strong desire to make a contribution to advance better music therapy development in Asia.

This four days conference will include a blend of keynote presentations and workshops, by internationally renowned overseas music therapists as well as local music therapists. Offering opportunities for participants to gain an in-depth understanding of different music therapy approaches and interventions as well as its clinical uses in various settings, we hope to raise public awareness towards music therapy, connect our work with other allied health professionals and provide professional development for local and Asian music therapists.

Guest Speakers:
5 music therapy experts with different specialty areas were nominated to be the guest speakers for the conference:
• Alan Turry (Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy)
• Barbara Wheeler (Research Methods)
• Eleanor Richards (Psychodynamic)
• Katrina McFerran (Music Therapy with Adolescents)
• Leslie Bunt (GIM)
• 6 presentations/ workshops by local music therapists will be selected by the committee board

• Conference Date : 3rd August (Friday) to 6th August, 2018 (Monday)
• Main Conference Date : 4th-5th August, 2018
• Pre-Conference Date : 3rd August, 2018
• Post-Conference Date : 6th August, 2018

Calling for Abstract
Participants are invited to submit their papers by email or online only from 27 December 2017 until 23:59 Thursday 15 April 2018, Hong Kong SAR Time.

Papers consist of an Abstract and a Description (max. 2000 characters) and should be submitted under the following topics:
• Practice
• Research
• Education/ Training

TYPE OF PRESENTATIONParticipants are welcome to choose their preferred presentation types:
• Paper Presentation (Authors will be holding a 45-minute-presentation at the conference)
• Poster Presentation (The size of the poster must be in A1 (59.4cm X 84.1cm).
• Workshop ( Authors will be holding a 45-minute-workshop at the conference)

About Hong Kong Music Therapy Association
The Association shall strive to promote, improve and advance the use of music therapy as a unique and effective treatment modality in clinical, educational and rehabilitation settings for the betterment of the public health and welfare in Hong Kong. The HKMTA is the primary organizational agency for music therapy professionals. It seeks continually to improve an organization structure for the self-governance of the members in order to uphold the best professional service for the public.
