bout the event
The Arts team at St Christopher’s Hospice are mounting their fourth conference ‘Facing Death Creatively’ to explore how the Arts can be utilised to make sense of and provide comfort at the end of life and in bereavement. The focus of this year’s conference will be Death and Diversity: Exploring Creative Equality and Inclusion exploring creative practices that engage with our multicultural society.

The themes for the conference are: diversity in death and dying, creative approaches and interventions focused on the integration of one or more of the protected categories to support dying (age; disability; gender reassignment; marriage and civil partnership; pregnancy and maternity; race; religion or belief; sex; sexual orientation); creative approaches to multiculturalism in death; cross cultural dialogues about dying mediated through the arts; reflections on the role the arts play in opening the field to more diverse, integrated, multicultural ways of dying; reflections on the role the arts play in the creation of meaning and the framing of the dying experience through the valuing of diversity.
