"Bridging the Years with Words, Music and Action"

We are proud to present this one day intergenerational conference to share practice, inspire new work and explore current challenges and opportunities for those working in the health and education sector, artists, music therapists, community organisations, students, care home managers, care home activity co-ordinators and policy makers.and we would very much like you to be there.

Bridging the Years with Words, Music and Action 

The day will include a series of different workshops and activities including: 

  • Dr Charlotte Lance from CC4C Intergenerational Fellow Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust shall be discussing and presenting her findings of intergenerational practice on an NHS geriatric ward with children from a local school in conjunction with Imperial and St Mary’s Hospital, NHS.
  • Grace Meadows, music therapist and Programme Director for Music for Dementia 2020 shall be discussing the campaign.
  • The Wiser Collection shall be touching on their community intergenerational programmes with a focus on exploring some of the frequent barriers and challenges one can face around safeguarding concerns and access to isolated older people especially those not online.  
  • Liv McLennan, Director of Music in Wellbeing, shall be discussing parity in the intergenerational session supported with musical examples/frameworks that can enable this from a community music angle.
  • Charlotte Miller, Director of Intergenerational Music Making, shall be presenting IMM's intergenerational music therapy projects with referred mainstream children, SEN children and those suffering with dementia in their local care homes.  
  • Advice on how to go about setting up intergenerational sessions, applying for funding, risk assessments, making links with the care homes.
  • Music making within an intergenerational session including songs, activities and ideas that can be incorporated and ideas for extending your repertoire and fun activities. 
  • Suggestions of choral and singing material that can be used and created in these sessions.
