BADth CPD day - 'The monster under the bed: clinical applications of the Hero's Journey in Drama Therapy’ with Robert J Landy in Glasgow on 1st September 2018

In the workshop, ‘The monster under the bed: clinical applications of the Hero's Journey in Drama Therapy,’ participants will be guided through an experience in Robert Landy’s version of the hero’s journey, which is unique in its narrative frame of four interactive figures: hero, destination, obstacle and guide. Starting with a story of a little girl fearing the monster under her bed, participants will create and dramatize their own stories and explore clinical applications of a drama therapy model based in role theory and aiming toward balance and integration.

Robert J. Landy, Ph.D., is Professor of Educational Theatre and Applied Psychology and the Founding Director of the Drama Therapy Program at New York University. At NYU, he innovated the therapeutic theatre series, "As Performance," focusing on the impact of race, mental illness, disability, sexuality and violence upon individuals and cultures. A pioneer founder of the field of Drama Therapy, Dr. Landy is a therapist, theatre artist, composer, scholar and writer whose work includes numerous books, articles, songs, plays, films and an on-going blog in Psychology Today. His musical play, 'God Lives in Glass,' has been widely performed throughout the US. In addition, Landy is a fine-arts photographer who has exhibited his work in journals, books and New York City galleries.
