Introduction to Music Therapy Workshop

04 March 2023

Join us at this in-person workshop in Chesham (Buckinghamshire) to take a deep dive into what Music Therapy is and what it's like to work as a Music Therapist.

Throughout this workshop, you can expect to be involved in an active, participatory and shared learning experience. You will learn about the people at the heart of the Music Therapy profession: our clients, their families and carers.

We will support you to think about the realities of working across health, education and social care sectors, as well as experiencing what it is like to be a Music Therapist in the community. The Music Therapist’s toolbox is varied and we will introduce you to the approaches of music centred, psychodynamic, neurologic and community music therapy, as well as sharing some of the common assessment tools and outcome measures used in the varying sectors. As an organisation, Chiltern’s passion lies in being able to help our clients to share their stories and giving them a voice. We will showcase video and audio examples of some of those clients and their families that we are privileged to meet and work with.

This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in finding out more about the music therapy profession, including musicians and students on music courses.
