Communicating Through Music - From Early Years to Adolescence

07 March 2026

Back by popular demand, join us for this online workshop exploring the transformative power of music in communication and wellbeing. The day is led by Clare Maddocks, HCPC registered Music Therapist and Director of Education and Research for BAMT.

Are you interested in exploring how to increase or better utilise music in your setting? Whether you're a musician or teacher this workshop will help you discover the ways in which music can enhance your ability to connect with others, express your emotions, and build meaningful relationships with the children and young people you work with. Through a series of interactive exercises and discussions, you'll explore the different types of musical communication, from nonverbal expression to singing and songwriting, and learn how to tailor your approach to fit the needs of your class/group.

This workshop is open to anyone who is interested in exploring the powerful role that music can play in communication across the curriculum, and no prior musical experience is required. You can join for the full day, or select a half day ticket, with the following options available:
FULL DAY: 10am-4pm (1 hour break for lunch at 12.30pm)
HALF DAY (EARLY YEARS & PRIMARY ONLY): 10-12.30pm
HALF DAY (ADOLESCENTS ONLY): 1.30-4pm

Please note: this course was originally designed for non-Music Therapists but Music Therapists are welcome to attend as a refresher.
