Certificate in Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) Adaptations: Music Breathing, Progressive Body Relaxation, and Directed Music Imaging

9-days training spread over 9 months, beginning 17-19 & 25 April 2026 ONLINE

The resource-oriented GIM techniques taught on this course are designed to enhance the physical and mental health of clients with diverse needs across settings, including children and adults in both individual and group work. The different techniques taught - Music Breathing, Progressive Body Relaxation, and Directed Music Imaging – can be adapted and combined in different ways to make them accessible and suitable in meeting the needs of different clients.

The comprehensive training covers all aspects of the delivery of the techniques taught with an emphasis on experiential learning. Theory is also taught and group supervision included. After each technique is introduced, a period of consolidation, self-experience and client work follows. The course is open to qualified music therapists and music therapy students nearing the end of their training.
