Angela Harrison, Chair of BAMT Trustees
Angela enjoyed an orchestral career before qualifying as a music therapist in 1995. She now leads the team at the North Yorkshire Music Therapy Centre. Angela is particularly interested in helping people with communication and attachment difficulties and her work takes her into schools and homes in the region. Angela became Chair of the Association of Professional Music Therapists (APMT) in Sept 2010 then co-ordinated the final steps of the merger with the BSMT, resulting in the establishment of the British Association for Music Therapy in April 2011.
Chair of BAMT Trustees. The role of Chair is to oversee the activities of the British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT) and to ensure that the organisation upholds its charitable objects. Working with a capable and experienced team, the Chair oversees the work of the executive officers and the BAMT administrative team, based at the Claremont Project, Islington. As well as chairing monthly meetings of the BAMT trustees and executive officers, the Chair also represents the organisation at the meetings, conferences and formal events of a range of stakeholders. These include the Allied Health Professions Federation, Health Professions Council, Leads of Arts Therapies forum and other bodies.
