For National Music Therapy Week 2011 (6th- 11th June), people were invited to get involved in the largest free improvisation in the world and also perform in the massed orchestral/choral/band version of Pachelbel's Canon. It is not too late to either download a part if you're a music reader (for the Pachelbel) and play along or improvise wildly or a mix of the two! If we get 6,500 then we'll set a world record for the largest orchestra in the world!
Follow the instructions below to upload your movie contribution and we'll mix the results into various ensembles and one enormous megamix performance of both the improvisation and the Canon.
For uploading a track to the Pachelbel Canon you will need:
- An instrument/voice
- Some headphones
- A video camera connected to a computer
- Access to the internet
- Open up your movie recording app on your computer
- Connect some headphones to your computer (this is so you can hear the bass line but it won't go onto your recording)
- Get you and your instrument into a position where we can see you
- Press record on your movie app
- Press play on the movie of the Pachelbel bass line (played by Susie Winkworth)
- Count 1,2,3,4 with Susie then start playing. Either follow the notes on the printed sheets or play whatever you like that you think fits (think about following the instructions on screen if you want to)
- When you're done upload your video at http://www.youtube.com/user/thegounodian
