In 2012 two books were published: Music Therapy in Schools (eds:Tomlinson, Derrington and Oldfield) and Dramatherapy with Children, Young People and Schools (eds: Leigh, Gersh, Dix and Haythorne) Their appearance indicates a growing interest in this area of work. We are therefore inviting music therapy and dramatherapy presentations on working with children in educational and other settings. In particular, we are interested in the impact of different settings on work with children and also in how music and drama may be combined in therapeutic work. A wide range of presentations on music therapy and dramatherapy with children, young people and families will be included.
There will be two keynote presentations:
- Claire Flower, Music Therapist at Cheyne Child Development Service, London, and Student on the Nordoff-Robbins doctoral programme : “Duos, trios and other therapeutic ensembles; perspectives on collaborative practice in music therapy.” This will be followed by a dramatherapy respondent who will relate the paper to the field of dramatherapy.
- Dr Phil Jones, Reader, Institute of Education, University of London, and Dr Ditty Dokter, Pathway Leader, MA Dramatherapy, Anglia Ruskin University: “Dramatherapy Vignette Research: what are Children in Therapy?” This will be followed by a music therapy respondent who will relate the paper to the field of music therapy.
